TIGERMERCS DOGFIGHT

More than a Kill Counter.

Automated BFM scoring — Offense, Control Zone, Overshoots & Hits.

A structured 1-vs-1 DCS Dogfight server where the fight itself is evaluated — even when nobody gets the kill.

Every fight counts. Even without a kill.

What makes TigerMercs Dogfight different?

Most Dogfight servers ultimately answer one question: Who got the kill?

TigerMercs Dogfight goes one step further. The server follows the complete BFM engagement and evaluates the tactical advantage created during the fight.

A kill remains the clearest possible result — but if no kill is achieved before Knock It Off, the fight does not simply disappear as an inconclusive draw.

The BFM performance decides the result.

How a Fight Works

  1. BLUE and RED select aircraft in the same arena.
  2. Both pilots pass through their READY areas. READY is a check-in — not a parking position.
  3. The pilots enter the Combat Area and set up for the merge. The server confirms when both fighters are ready.
  4. Once the start conditions are met: FIGHT’S ON.
  5. The fight runs for a maximum of 180 seconds.
  6. A kill ends the fight immediately. If there is no kill, the server calls KNOCK IT OFF and evaluates the accumulated BFM performance.

What does the Server measure?

The scoring engine continuously evaluates several aspects of the engagement. The system is designed to reward useful offensive BFM rather than simply counting time spent in the same piece of airspace.

Offensive Position

The server detects sustained useful offensive positioning behind the opponent.

Control Zone

Strong close-range control behind the opponent is weighted more heavily than a general offensive position.

Forced Overshoots

Creating or suffering a forced overshoot influences the BFM result and can shift the advantage between both fighters.

Confirmed Hit Sequences

Gun hits matter even when they do not immediately produce a kill. A continuous burst is treated as one confirmed hit sequence instead of artificially counting every individual DCS hit event.

Kill or Knock It Off

KILL = 100 : 0

An actual combat kill ends the fight immediately and counts as a Kill in the public ranking.

KNOCK IT OFF = BFM SCORE

When the 180-second fight window expires without a kill, the server combines the measured BFM performance and confirmed hit sequences into the final score.

A KIO result can therefore show which pilot created the stronger tactical advantage even though both aircraft survived the fight.

A Knock It Off result does not create a Kill in the leaderboard.

Hits matter — without becoming a Hit Counter

DCS can generate several individual HIT events from a single short cannon burst. Counting every raw event would distort the result.

TigerMercs Dogfight therefore groups related hits into Hit Sequences.

One continuous burst counts as one sequence. Clearly separated attacks can create additional sequences. This allows effective gun employment to influence a KIO result without turning the system into a simple hit counter.

Five independent 1-vs-1 Arenas

The server provides five separate fight arenas: A1 to A5.

A1 – A4

Modern and Cold War fighter aircraft can be matched within independent BLUE vs RED arenas.

A5 – Warbirds

A dedicated arena extends the same structured Dogfight concept to piston-engine fighters.

Each arena maintains its own READY state, Combat Area, fight timer, scoring and session.

Protected Fights

A structured 1-vs-1 system only works if the fight remains between the two pilots who started it.

TigerMercs Dogfight therefore includes server-side protection for arena occupancy, slot usage and foreign-arena entry. The system is designed to prevent another player from accidentally — or deliberately — interfering with an active engagement.

Special situations such as boundary violations, crashes, disconnects and aborted fights are handled by the fight controller according to the server rules.

Multicrew Support

Two-seat aircraft are part of the system as well. The server can associate multicrew combinations such as F-14 Pilot / RIO and F-4 Pilot / WSO with the fight.

Competitive scoring remains attached to the pilot. The backseater is recorded as part of the crew rather than being treated as a separate competitor.

Results & Leaderboard

Every completed fight generates a result. Kills and KIO fights both contribute to the pilot’s history and accumulated points.

Leaderboard order:

1. Kills
2. Points decide ties

The statistics also show the pilot’s average score per fight and a performance trend based on recent results.

The important distinction remains: only a real combat kill increases the Kill count.

No external manual required

The essential server rules, fight flow, arena information, scoring explanation and special-result handling are available directly inside DCS.

Public Beta

Help us test it

TigerMercs Dogfight is now open for public beta testing.

The core fight system, automated BFM evaluation, protected arenas, multicrew support and result tracking are operational.

What we need now is real flying.

Different pilots, different aircraft, different flying styles and unexpected situations generate exactly the data that helps us find edge cases and improve the system.

Fly normally. Fight hard. Try different aircraft.

Every completed fight and every useful line in the server log helps us make TigerMercs Dogfight more reliable.

During the beta phase, functions and scoring parameters may still receive adjustments based on real multiplayer testing.

READY. MERGE. FIGHT’S ON.

Don’t just get the kill.
Win the fight.
